Career and Technical Education

Ritenour High School is proud to offer eight (8) programs of study for students interested in Career and Technical Education.  Programs of study offered include:

• Biomedical Science    
• Business Education    
• Computer Science    
• Culinary Arts    
• Design    
• Education and Training    
• Engineering    
• Media Convergence 

All programs of study, when coupled with work-based learning, allow students to complete at least 3.0 credits of sequential coursework.  While completing coursework, students have the opportunity to participate in  four (4) Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs).  The following CTSOs are offered at RHS:    

• Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA)    
• Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA)    
• Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA)    
• Technology Student Association (TSA)  

All programs of study provide students the opportunity to show proficiency through at least one Technical Skill Attainment (TSA) assessment and/or earn an Industry Recognized Credential (IRC).  
     
TSA assessments offered include:        
• ACT WorkKeys        
• Project Lead the Way EOCs (End of Course Exams) in Biomedical Science        
• Project Lead the Way EOCs in Computer Science        
• Project Lead the Way EOCs in Engineering    

IRCs offered include:        
• Culinary Arts (AAFCS)        
• Education Fundamentals (AAFCS)        
• Fashion, Textiles, and Apparel (AAFCS)        
• Final Cut Pro        
• Fundamental Business Concepts (A*S*K)        
• Interior Design Fundamentals (AAFCS)        
• ServSafe Food Handler plus ServSafe Food Protection Manager

All programs of study provide students to earn some type of college credit.  CTE specific college credit can be earned through Dual Credit, Articulated Credit, PLTW Equivalency Credit, and Advanced Placement Coursework. Students that have completed at least 3.0 credits in a CTE program of study can be considered for the Missouri CTE Certificate.
